What do you know about Native American family and tribal life before Europeans arrived in America?

Not much? That’s okay, Nita is here to help!

Nita Bear is a children’s TV animation series that follows the adventures of an imaginative black bear cub living in tribal Pre-Columbian America. It’s steeped in Southeast Native culture, with chukkas (roundhouses) drums, dances, Native clothing and jewelry, and lots of Choctaw words.

Nita Bear is intended for young mainstream audiences. It is adorably cute, kind of a giggle fest, but also heartwarming. Occasionally dramatic. It will make you cry at least twice per season, but you’ll want more, promise.

It’s alll about family, friendship, community, and fun.

Nita Bear is educational (soft, emotional learning) it has culture, it has Choctaw language, and it encourages community service and friendship. It’s also about engaging the world through play and discovery - sometimes, we all need to remember to get outside and touch grass!

Nita Bear follows Nita and her Choctaw bear family as they learn that playing together, working together, and sticking together, makes for a happy, and healthy tribe.
